The Interactive Gaming Council, which is a non-profit organization,
was founded in 1996 in the United States and then moved to Vancouver,
Canada, and incorporated in Canada in March of 2000. The IGC was
formed with the goal of providing a forum that allows people to
address issues and to be able to discuss interests that they may
have int the global interactive gaming industry and to create
fair and responsible trade guidelines and rules that boost customer
confidence in the industry. Since the company was founded, their
membership numbers have increased tremendously and they have been
getting increasingly more attention from noteworthy industry groups.
They now have members from all over the world, including the U.S.,
the U.K., South Africa, Israel, Canada, the Caribbean, Australia,
Denmark and Sweden, to name just a few. The Interactive Gaming
Council strives to continue building their reputation for reliability,
integrity and credibility in the industry; and in an effort to
show this, they have come up with a strict Code of Conduct. Below
is a synopsis of this code.
Code of Conduct for the Interactive Gaming Council
1. Regulatory Compliance: Every Interactive Gaming Council member
will abide by all laws/regulations of the jurisdiction in which
they do business. Any member issued a gaming license will provide
proof of that license. All members will do all in their power
to get all documentation on any limitations that are imposed by
the government that issued their license.
2. Accountability: Interactive Gaming Council members agree to
make available for inspection/review by government or gaming commission
their systems, algorithms and practices.
3. Consumer Privacy and Data Protection: Interactive Gaming Council
members agree to create and run their services in a manner that
provides consumer privacy and confidentiality. Members also agree
to make easily obtainable a copy of these practices and procedures.
Members will do everything in their power to detect and eliminate
all forms of fraud and to make sure that all data and systems
are free from internal and external breaches.
4. Truth in Advertising: Interactive Gaming Council members agree
to be completely truthful in all published advertising and promotions
and to post only truthful information about all operations. They
also agree to publish for the public all Gaming and Wagering Operator
Member rules, all steps in the registration process, and current
payout percentages .
5. Dispute Resolution and Audit Trails: All Interactive Gaming
Council members will be sure to keep detailed records of all transactions
that will be made accessible for audit by any legitimate gaming
commission or government authority.
6. Limiting Access by Minors: Interactive Gaming Council members
will put into effect measures to keep underage players from gaining
access to their gaming systems. These measures will request that
all consumers affirm that they are of legal gaming age in their
